The warmth of the afternoon sun felt warm against the back of her neck, trying to pierce through the blonde hair that did its best to shield the mild heat. She watched the buildings from the hood of her truck before deciding it was best to get on with it. Tugging firmly on her cowboy hat, sienna colored eyes shifted towards the box filled vehicle before her. Packing it all up was the easy part, but dismantling it and unpacking it was going to be a pain. Hopefully, her new roommate wouldn’t mind carrying in some boxes to make it go by faster. She had been emailing a woman to get to know her; after all, she had been the one to move in first. Azaria just didn’t feel right barging in and “taking over,” besides, she’d rather get to know the person ahead of time to ensure they would mesh well together. Luckily, Azaria’s search ended just as it had started. Within the first couple of times emailing this Carson, they had hit it off. Their emails were casual and comfortable, which could only be transcended upon her actually moving in and today was the day she’d be able to place a face to the name.
Exhaling lightly, Azaria swung open one of the doors and began to pick through the clutter. After she removed a few boxes out onto the concrete sidewalk, she stared reluctantly at the boxes leftover. Seeing as it was her first time moving in the entirety of her lifetime, she was already starting to hate it. Reaching down to pick up a few boxes, she stepped towards the building numbered “103” and fumbled for the doorknob. Carson told her she would leave the door open and hand over her own set of keys once Ria got settled. As her hand grasped the knob, she jiggled it a few times before it gave way and was relieved that Carson had kept her promise. She moved with ease into the building, unsure if she was actually there or not, but either way, Azaria was more focused on getting all her things situated into her room before hunting down her roommate.
Even if Azaria didn’t outwardly look a bit afraid of living with another woman, she was. She had lived with men her entire life and was used to their presence, switching over and living with another girl often meant butting heads and petty fights over who used whoever’s shampoo. Those small quarrels were something Ria couldn’t personally tolerate but what did she know? Maybe Carson didn’t care if they swapped small things like that. She would soon find out, after a trip or two to her truck, Azaria decided it was best to take a break and find this Carson; however, was soon distracted by a shirt that was flung out onto the couch in the open. Azaria stepped towards it and upon further inspection identified it as male clothing. Curiosity and confusion flooded her face as she turned on her heels and called out to her roommate, hoping that she wasn't interrupting some sort of intimacy on Carson’s behalf. ”Hey Carson,” she called out, eyes drifting away from the shirt to search the home for any sign of movement or life for that matter. She waited a moment and decided to make light out of this strange situation, ”I think a friend of yours is probably walking around half-naked, searching for his shirt. You might wanna return it.” She gave a soft laugh, eyes smiling as she stood, waiting for the soft echo of a reply.

WHEN his door was opened, he stuck his head out and listened for the sounds of another human. when he didn't hear anything, carson shrugged and walked out of his room. he made sure to close his door as his room was on the messy side. he didn't want his new housemate seeing his mess before they even had a chance to meet. needing to use the bathroom, carson walked into the bathroom next to his room. well, between their rooms. he was happy that the two of them wouldn't be sharing a wall. that could make for awkward mornings.
WHILE in the bathroom, carson could have sworn that he heard the door open again. he finished up going and then opened the door to peek out. when he didn't see anyone, he closed the door again and walked over to the shower. he figured a shower would be the next best thing to a nap. turning on the water, he walked away to give it time to warm up and to give the house a sweep. when he didn't see anyone, he took his shirt off and threw it on the couch. while walking towards the bathroom, he kicked his jeans and pants off in the general direction of his bedroom door. he then walked into the bathroom without anything on and was just about to step into the shower when he heard a voice. shit he mumbled as he turned off the water and fumbled for a towel. he quickly wrapped the towel loosely and low down around his waist before walking out of the bathroom.
I don't have a half naked friend wandering around. carson said when he walked out into the main living area. that is my shirt though. smiling, he then stuck out his right hand to shake her's. and as you already know, my name is carson.

The faint sound of rushing water had caused apprehension in Azaria’s features, but oddly enough, as soon as the sound was registered, it had been turned off. She turned her head casually in the general direction of where the bathroom was and hesitated. What if she was in the wrong house? She could only imagine how awkward it would have been to stand there and apologize to the other person for barging onto the property and invading their privacy. Azaria stiffened slightly as a shadow filled the hallway and it was accompanied by the sound of bare feet hitting the floorboards. Her head tilted to the side as figure materialized and to her shock, that a man was rounding the corner to greet her, and in only a towel that hung loosely around his waist. She forced her gaze off the side, cheeks gaining a slight bit more of color as she was sure she was in the midst of something intimate. She wanted to apologize but before she could, the stranger before her spoke. She smiled at his comment and let her eyes rest strictly on his face, refusing to observe him in a more open way for obvious reasons. ”Well, as far as I’m concerned, there’s a more than half naked man walking around,” she stated in a playful quip before she shifted her weight a little more.
Once he confirmed that the shirt in concern was his, Azaria nodded and listened as he said his name was Carson. Her head snapped away from the shirt and onto his features and as he stuck out his hand, Azaria mindlessly reached out and shook it. ”Azaria,” she stated, waiting for the realization to register upon his features as it had already done hers. ”You were supposed to be – well at least I thought you were supposed to be a girl,” she commented with a small smile. How could she have been so blind to the fact that Carson was a guy? Before she could even hesitate, she let a small laugh leave her lips. ”Do you always greet people in a towel or am I just one of the lucky ones,” she inquired in a joking manner, trying to lighten the mess they found themselves in.
